About
Distinctive shapes, subtle curves, and an acute sense
of proportion accompany my exploration of color,
surface texture, and materials. In much of my work I
use carefully chosen combinations of select hardwoods,
their natural colors and grain patterns becoming an
integral part of the pieces. The vocabulary of colors
and textures from which I draw is expanded by the
thoughtful use of such non-traditional materials as
MDF, laminated beam, plywood, and paint. Exciting
materials, expert craftsmanship, and distinctive KSO
design all come together as I create elegant and
whimsical contemporary furniture.
After studying sculpture at Kenyon College, I returned
to my home town of Minneapolis where I worked as a
sculptor and as a luthier for an internationally
reputed banjo maker.
I began exploring the art of furniture making after moving to Wisconsin
where I now operate my own woodworking studio in a
vibrant little community in the driftless area of
Southwestern Wisconsin.
